The information was released at a conference held by the group on December 26 in Hanoi to review its operation in 2017 and set future plans for 2018.
The year 2017 is the second year that VNPT implemented its plan for 2016-2020 period and the precondition year for the implementation of its restructuring towards equitisation.
Thanks to the innovation in production, business and corporate governance, the group has exceeded all targets. Notably, the profit growth reached VND5.010 trillion in 2017, up 21% over the last year.
VNPT’s total revenue was at VND144.747 trillion this year, an annual increase of 7%; meanwhile its State budget contribution reached VND4.116 trillion, up 9.3%.
The return on equity ratio of the group was 8.2% in 2017, exceeding 5.1% of the plan. The total number of phone subscribers was more than 34 million, including 31.1 million mobile subscribers (an increase of 21% compared to the last year).
Under the announcement of the Brand Finance company, both VNPT and Vinaphone were among the top ten most valuable brands in Vietnam in 2017.
In addition, VNPT also successfully fulfilled all political and public interest tasks assigned by the State, including managing and operating Vinasat 1 and 2 satellite systems, operating the specialised information network to serve the direction of the Party and other government agencies, and becoming a key unit in providing public telecommunications services to remote areas.
