The 2,941 metre long, 25 metre wide bridge has a main span that measures 996 metres long.
Construction of the bridge over the Lam River started in March 2010 with a total investment of VND1.26 trillion (US$60.5 million) sourced from Government bonds.
So far, 84% of the workload has been completed and the bridge is scheduled to open to traffic by National Day, September 2, this year.
As one of the key national transport projects, the bridge is expected to ease the load over the downgraded Ben Thuy 1 Bridge, improve the transport capacity of National Highway No. 1A, and contribute to socio-economic development in the two provinces, as well as the entire central region.
