* A total of 19 were killed in an unrest that erupted at an incarceration facility in west Sri Lankan city Negombo, while at least 50 others were injured, police said.

* The Israeli military said Sunday it carried out an airstrike against a Hezbollah militant cell in southern Lebanon. The military said its soldiers spotted a Hezbollah cell early Sunday near the Al-Uqaydah area, close to the Israeli-patrolled "security zone."

* The Israeli military said it detained dozens of Israeli civilians who attempted to cross the border into Syrian territory earlier Sunday. According to the Israel Defense Forces, troops deployed to the scene, detained the suspects, and handed them over to police for further questioning.

* A Palestinian official on Sunday accused Israel of advancing a plan to take control of more than 3,750 archaeological sites in the West Bank, describing it as part of a broader policy to tighten Israeli control over heritage locations and support settlement expansion.

* Kuwait announced Sunday the launch of an emergency response fund with an initial capital of 100 million USD, part of the country's efforts to repair facilities damaged in the Iran war.

* Thailand's headline inflation continued to increase in June as domestic fuel costs remained elevated, resulting in higher transportation fares and prepared food prices, driven by the Middle East conflict, official data showed on Monday.

* China's express delivery volume had surpassed 100 billion parcels as of the end of June this year, data from the State Post Bureau (SPB) showed on Saturday. The milestone came nine days earlier than in 2025, the bureau said, noting that it signaled a steady upturn in both the express delivery sector and the consumer market.

* Nepal's prolonged sluggish economic growth is projected to have continued in the third quarter of the current fiscal year 2025-26, with the country's statistics body estimating growth at 3.51 percent for the quarter. The projected growth is lower than the 4.05 percent recorded during the same quarter of the previous fiscal year 2024-25, the National Statistics Office (NSO) said on Monday.

* Indonesia recorded around 107.34 million USD in transaction value through an online business matching program for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) during the January-April period this year, the Ministry of Trade said.

* Japan's rice traders widely expect prices to keep falling over the coming months amid bloated inventories and discount sales, according to a monthly survey of industry players released Monday by the Rice Stable Supply Support Organization. The diffusion index gauging expectations for rice prices over the next three months fell four points from May to 19 in June, marking the ninth consecutive month below the 50-point threshold.

* Afghanistan's Ministry of Mines and Petroleum on Sunday inked contracts worth 89.06 million USD for alluvial gold extraction in northern Takhar province, a move aimed at galvanizing economic activity and generating much-needed employment.

* Bangladesh's export earnings slipped 0.58 percent to roughly 48 billion USD in the just-concluded 2025-26 fiscal year (July 2025-June 2026). According to official data released by the Export Promotion Bureau on Sunday, the country shipped goods worth 4.20 billion dollars in June, nearly 26 percent higher than the same month a year ago, largely due to the growing demand for ready-made garments.

* A powerful storm is battering New Zealand's South Island, prompting "threat to life" warnings as authorities brace for severe flooding, landslides and dangerous river conditions.

* More than 100 buildings were damaged by strong winds and tornadoes in southern Myanmar on Sunday evening, officials from the Myanmar Fire Services Department told Xinhua on Monday. Strong winds and tornadoes hit Taikkyi township in Yangon region and Paung township in Mon state, the department said.

* Incessant rains over the past few days caused floods in several areas in central, west and southwest India, while a red alert for heavy rains was sounded in New Delhi on Sunday.
