2014 Red Star Awards honour outstanding young entrepreneurs

Nhan Dan – Ten outstanding young businessmen were granted the 2014 Red Star Awards at a ceremony held in Hanoi on August 30 in recognition of their excellent business performance and commitment to society in 2013-2014.

At the event, co-organised by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Vietnam Youth Federation and Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association, 100 young entrepreneurs across the nation were also honoured for their achievements over the last year. From that list, 10 outstanding entrepreneurs were chosen to receive the Red Star Awards.

From the beginning of this year, total revenue of businesses run by those 100 young entrepreneurs has reached over VND320.6 trillion (US$15 billion). They have contributed nearly VND40.7 trillion (US$2 billion) to the State budget and created decent jobs for almost 120,000 employees.

In 2013 alone, total revenue of enterprises run by 10 Red Star Awards winners reached more than VND235 trillion (US$11 billion), contributing VND35.6 trillion (US$1.7 billion) to the State budget and creating jobs for more than 46,000 workers.

Those honoured at this year’s event also actively participated in community development activities, recorded social prestige, and positively developed the Youth Union organisation in their businesses.

Addressing the ceremony, on behalf of the Government, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh congratulated and praised the achievements by 100 young entrepreneurs.

He confirmed that young entrepreneur honoured and awarded with the Red Star Award were fine examples of the new generation of dynamic, creative and enthusiastic businessmen who displayed many outstanding achievements in business operation, job creation and social contributions.

Specifying the challenges and opportunities bringing about by international economic integration, Deputy PM Ninh said that he expected young entrepreneurs may attempt to restructure their business operations, enhance competitiveness and improve their prestige towards sustainable development.

He also affirmed the Government support for promotion of business production and removal of difficulties for enterprises.

First launched in 1999, the event has honoured nearly 300 outstanding young entrepreneurs, including 87 granted Red Star Awards to encourage young Vietnamese businesspeople.
