The mountainous district of Khanh Son in Khanh Hoa province recently harvested more than 7,100 tonnes of various fruits. To support the sale of the fruit, local authorities have actively worked with the Chanh Thu Import-Export company to sell about 3,750 tonnes of durian meeting VietGAP and OCOP standards while creating favourable conditions for traders and vehicles from pandemic-hit areas to enter the district to buy fruit.
The Farmers’ Association of Phu Yen province, in coordination with local authorities, has timely helped local farmers to sell seasonal products that are ripened such as watermelons, bananas, and grapefruit.
Chairwoman of the Farmers' Association of Tuy An District’s An Linh Commune Nguyen Thi Phuong has proactively compiled a list of households growing watermelons and bananas that are about to be harvested to plan for the sale of the fruit for each household. If you can’t sell the fruit in time, you will have to leave it, because watermelons and bananas ripen very quickly in the hot weather, Phuong noted.
In Ninh Thuan province, models of linking the production and consumption of agricultural products have also been promoted, contributing to improving the value and competitiveness of agricultural products, especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Deputy Director in charge of Co.opmart Thanh Ha supermarket, Nguyen Thi Anh Dao said that since the beginning of the year, the supermarket has prioritised linking with local establishments and farmers to buy vegetables, tubers, and fruit, thus there is no longer a backlog of local products as before.
Director of the Binh Dinh Province Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Van Phuc said that the Department has actively coordinated with local People's Committees to review the output of agricultural and aquatic products and assess the current sale and backlog capacity to guide farmers to actively harvest, pack and preserve their agricultural products.
At the same time, the Department has coordinated with the Department of Industry and Trade and related departments and agencies to organise the timely sale of agricultural products for local people.
According to the Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tan Tuan, amid the increasingly complicated and unpredictable situation of the pandemic, the province has directed the relevant sectors and localities to implement solutions to support agricultural consumption, especially in terms of key products.

It is urgent to review and evaluate the production and sale of agricultural products with large output in order to have effective solutions. At the same time, the relevant agencies should provide complete and timely information on the market prices of agricultural products to consumers.
Meanwhile, Binh Dinh province has called on people to consume agricultural and aquatic products, as well as organising the supply of food to quarantine facilities and encouraging establishments to purchase and store agricultural and aquatic products.
The province has also connected with distributors outside the province to build consumption plans for about 15,000 tonnes of vegetables and fruit.
According to the Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Phu Yen Province Nguyen Trong Tung, local farmers and fishermen have been directed to produce in accordance with the appropriate plans and are timely informed about the pandemic situation and the sales market so that they can actively harvest, transport and consume their products at the right time.
The storage and freezing capacity of local enterprises is also being reviewed to be ready to be used locally or to support other provinces if needed.
