The signing was one of the key activities in the itinerary of the 108 Military Central Hospital delegation in Hannover, carried out with the permission of the Ministry of National Defence.

Established in 1892, DIAKOVERE Annastift Hospital was initially tasked with providing treatment for children with disabilities. After more than 130 years of development, the hospital has become one of Germany’s leading specialist orthopaedic institutions and maintains training and research ties with Hannover Medical School. Several generations of the hospital’s leaders and specialists have served as Presidents of the German Society for Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery.

During the meeting, the 108 Military Central Hospital outlined its operational capabilities in orthopaedic trauma care and proposed a cooperation programme focusing on three main areas.

The two sides will strengthen clinical expertise through regular online consultations and case discussions for complex cases. In training, they aim to collaborate on doctoral training and organise continuing medical education programmes. Scientific research cooperation will focus on joint clinical trials and international co-publication.

The two sides also agreed to create opportunities for doctors from the 108 Military Central Hospital to deepen their involvement in clinical activities as part of the cooperation.

The signing of the memorandum of understanding by the leaders of the two hospitals establishes a formal framework for a long-term partnership in orthopaedic trauma care. On the occasion, the Director of 108 Military Central Hospital invited Professor Henning Windhagen to visit Viet Nam and attend the hospital’s annual Scientific Conference, scheduled for March 2027.

The signing of the memorandum of understanding with DIAKOVERE Annastift Hospital provides a solid foundation for the 108 Military Central Hospital to expand its international cooperation in orthopaedic trauma care, from professional support and training to scientific research, boosting specialist capacity and treatment quality.

As part of the working visit, the 108 Military Central Hospital delegation also explored research activities at the Laboratory of Biomechanics and Biomaterials under the guidance of Professor Christof Hurschler.
