Activities mark 104th anniversary of the Russian October Revolution

Representatives of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF), KPRF committees in Moscow, patriotic movements, the Association of Soviet Officers, the Leninist Communist Youth Union, and the Left Front, together with a large number of Russian people, took part in a flower and wreath-laying ceremony to pay tribute to V.I. Lenin at his Mausoleum in Red Square and at the Heroes of the Revolution memorial complex in Moscow.

Speaking at the ceremony, leader of the KPRF Gennady Zyuganov emphasised that "Red October" opened a new era in human history, and at the same time highly lauded the socio-economic achievements that people have obtained in implementing the ideals of the Great Russian October Revolution.

He added that after creating the system of government of the Soviets, Lenin's Party laid the foundation for building the world's first worker-peasant state, fundamentally changing the fate of the Russian nation, bringing Russia from a backward, poor country to a world power in economics, politics, military, science, technology, culture, and education, etc; bringing workers and peasants from the status of slavery to being the masters of the country.

Among those present at Red Square, many people carried red flags and banners to celebrate the great holiday. Piotr Sladygin, a history lecturer from Moscow University for the Humanities, said that he participated in the celebration to show his belief in the Communist Party's ideology as well as Lenin thought.

Piotr Sladygin also shared that he still remembers President Ho Chi Minh's words “when drinking water remember the source”, underscoring that this event will continue to be celebrated in the future.

Also, on the same day, in many localities across Russia, people gathered in central squares to celebrate this great historical event of mankind.
