According to the experience of local people and tourists, the best time to visit the wind farm is early in the morning or late in the afternoon, when the air is cool, the sunlight is less harsh, and the wind makes the turbines spin beautifully.
From the centre of Bac Lieu City, following Cao Van Lau Road toward the sea for over 10 kilometres, visitors will arrive at Dong A Hamlet, Vinh Trach Dong Commune, where the Bac Lieu Wind Farm is located.
From a great distance, one can see rows of turbine pillars standing tall on the sea surface.
The Bac Lieu Wind Farm began construction in 2010 and was connected to the national grid in 2013. It is considered one of the largest wind power projects in the country and is also the first wind farm in Southeast Asia built on the continental shelf.
In 2019, it was recognised as a typical Mekong Delta Tourism Association destination. To further promote the tourism potential of this destination, the provincial authorities have been calling for investors to develop entertainment services.

As a result, the wind farm has become an attractive destination for visitors both inside and outside the province.
Visitors buy tickets at the gate for 20,000 VND per person and can freely move around to explore and take photos in areas designated for tourism.
They are also requested to follow safety regulations, avoid noise, and not obstruct the work of engineers and workers at the plant.
The 3m-wide concrete road runs above the sea surface, leading visitors close to the turbines, like giant pinwheels slowly spinning in the wind.
Below the concrete road, a layer of stones is arranged alternately, forming a "rock fence" to prevent erosion.
With its beautiful, spacious, and not-too-distant location from the city, the wind farm is considered the new symbol of Bac Lieu Province, attracting visitors of all ages.
On a typical afternoon, the wind farm welcomes about 50-60 visitors who come to admire the scenery and take photos. This number can multiply several times on weekends and during holidays.
Each wind turbine stands up to 80 meters tall with propellers 42 meters long, designed and manufactured from special materials to withstand sun, rain, and storms. There are a total of 62 turbines operating at the Bac Lieu Wind Farm.

Visitors to the wind farm can capture impressive images of one of the most modern renewable energy projects in the country. |
The Bac Lieu Wind Farm is surrounded by the vast ocean and lush mangrove forests, featuring a typical ecosystem of saltwater areas, such as indigenous ‘duoc’, ‘ban’ and ‘mam’ trees, along with various bird species, crabs, and fish.
In addition to exploring the wind power field, this is also a chance to visit the pristine mangrove forests and fish cages of people living in the coastal area.
The massive turbines spinning in the magnificent sunset create a scene that is both poetic and romantic, yet modern and dynamic. Some liken them to pinwheels, while others see them as flower petals.
Aside from Bac Lieu Wind Farm, Bac Lieu Province has other wind power projects that have been opened to serve tourists, including Hoa Binh 1 Wind Farm, where visitors can take electric vehicles out to sea for tens of kilometres to admire the wind power project and experience activities like sailing and catching fish and shrimp with local fishermen.
On the way to Bac Lieu Wind Farm, tourists can visit nearby cultural and heritage sites such as Xiem Can Pagoda, Quan Am Phat Dai Pagoda, an ancient longan garden, and then return to the city to explore its night street cuisine.
