Bat Trang Village Festival recognised as national intangible cultural heritage

The Gia Lam District People's Committee in Hanoi solemnly held a ceremony on March 12 to announce the decision to recognise Bat Trang Village Festival as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, opening the Bat Trang Village Traditional Festival in 2025.

On December 10, 2024, the Bat Trang Village Traditional Festival was recognised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage. This is recognition of the unique cultural values of Bat Trang pottery village, preserving the quintessence of the nation, and at the same time an opportunity for the community to remember and show gratitude to their ancestors.

Bat Trang pottery village, located on the left bank of the Red River, in Bat Trang Commune, Gia Lam district, Hanoi, has a long history of development. Bat Trang pottery is not only famous domestically but also spreads the quintessence of art and national identity throughout the world.

In 2023, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism officially included Bat Trang pottery in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage list, demonstrating the recognition and spirit of preserving the cultural values that the pottery profession has brought to the community.

Bat Trang pottery village has hundreds of artisans, including two People's Artisans, six excellent artisans, and many ceramic products, meeting OCOP 3–5-star standards.
