The diplomatic tie between Vietnam and France is a long-standing traditional relationship. Through many ups and downs in history, the relationship between the two countries has gone through different stages.
Today, with the trend of peace and regional and international cooperation for development becoming globally common, both Vietnam and France must quickly formulate foreign policies suitable for the new situation to increase opportunities and facilitate the development of the nations and people while addressing current challenges.
In ASEAN, Vietnam has been increasingly establishing its position in politics and economics and now holds an important role. Therefore, Vietnam is perfectly positioned to act as a bridge to help France penetrate the ASEAN market and the broader Asian market. Meanwhile, France is one of the world's leading powers and plays a crucial role in Europe, particularly within the European Union (EU).
Therefore, promoting friendship with France will create favourable conditions for Vietnam to expand and develop economic relations with EU members and European countries. Over the past years, leaders of the two countries have made appropriate policies to build and strengthen the strategic partnership between France and Vietnam.
