According to the new regulation unfit and mutilated banknotes which are not suitable for further circulation include cotton/polymer bank notes that show signs of damage from fire or water, have pieces missing, or has detoriated in some way such as being torn, dirty, limp, worn, or defaced.
A coin shall be considered unfit and mutilated when it is bent or twisted out of shape or defaced, or shows signs of filing, clipping or perforation.
Regarding unfit banknotes and coins due to objective reasons or technical errors made by the producers, SBV’s branches, in provinces and cities across the country and relevant units, are responsible for the collection and must help customers exchange the unfit banknotes with no limit on the number and no paperwork required.
The SBV will also announce examples of mutilated currency as a basis for the collection, exchange, selection, and classification.
