Sapa painting exhibition opens in Da Lat

Nhan Dan Online - An exhibition featuring 28 paintings by To Ngoc Thanh, member of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, opened yesterday in Da Lat city, Lam Dong province.

Entitled ‘Sapa, Where the Land Meets the Sky’, the paintings are inspired by the beauty of the land and people of the northwest region. Most of them depict the nature and landscapes of villages, as well as the colourful daily life of ethnic minority people in Sapa.

As a son of the renowned Vietnamese painter To Ngoc Van, To Ngoc Thanh held his paintbrush when he was just a little boy. His father used to show him around to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the country.

In 1972, painter To Ngoc Thanh had his own exhibition in Czechoslovakia. Since 1982, he has taken part in many joint exhibitions, both in Vietnam and other countries: the US, France, Japan, Poland, Bulgaria, Germany and more.

He has won many awards, including a special prize from the Soviet Union press in Moscow, an award for beautiful book covers and illustrations for children in 1982-1983, international children's paintings international awards in Austria and Japan, and even more still.

Many art works by To Ngoc Thanh are on display at the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts and the Asia and Pacific Museum in Poland, as well as in many collections around the world.

The exhibition runs until the end of February.
