Two second prizes, worth VND 20 million (US$ 887) each, went to Nguyen Huu Thong (Bac Giang province) and Nguyen Anh An (Ho Chi Minh City) for their works entitled ‘Vui Choi Ben Buc Tuong Tuoi Tho’ (Playing around the Wall of Childhood) and ‘Hon Ngoc Vien Dong’ (The Far East Pearl).

Three third and 15 consolation prizes were also presented to selected competitors.

Themed ‘Vietnam’s young generation – The Country and Development’, the online contest was launched in March this year by the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition. It targeted Vietnamese applicants aged between 14 and 35 from home and abroad.

Over 3,050 entries were sent to the organising board by nearly 527 entrants. Through their lenses, the amateur photographers vividly reflected the beauty of the nation of Vietnam, its people and culture; the country’s construction and defence as well as the pressing issues of today.

More than 200 selected photographs entered in the contest are being displayed at an exhibition which opened the same day to mark the 70th anniversary of National Day. The exhibition will run until September 2 at the Centre for Fine Arts and Photography, 29 Hang Bai Street, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi.
