The information was released by Chairman of Da Lat City People’s Committee Vo Ngoc Hiep at a press conference held in Hanoi on December 1 to announce the event.
According to Hiep, this year’s event will see two major changes from the previous editions.
First, the Da Lat city authorities will replace the Lam Dong provincial authorities to be the main organiser of the festival. The adjustment aims to raise the role and encourage the participation of local residents and businesses in Da Lat city.
Second, the 2015 event will provide more flower spaces not only within the centre of Da Lat city but also in residential areas, popular tourist sites, and floral businesses’ working places.
Flower spaces will be set up by the Da Lat City Flowers Association in five major locations: around Ho Xuan Huong lake; along Le Dai Hanh street; along streets to flower growing villages, as well as streets leading to floral businesses; and around tourist sites and hotels.
Each venue will be decorated with a specific kind of flower. Daisies and lilies will shine in Ha Dong flower village; roses will boast their beauty in Van Thanh village, and Thai Phien village will dedicate its space to honour orchids.
Tourists to the five-day festival will have an opportunity to visit an open-air flower market, and take part in flower arrangement contests and flower painting competitions.
Outstanding individuals and organizations who have made significant achievements in doing businesses and developing Da Lat’s flowers will also be honoured on the occasion.
