Surrounded by sweeping dunes and low coastal forest, Bau Trang is often dubbed the “mini Sahara” of Binh Thuan. Amidst a seemingly barren expanse of sun-scorched sand and sparse forest lies a freshwater lake, a rare gift of nature to this arid land.

According to the Binh Thuan Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Bau Trang spans around 45 hectares and comprises two lakes, Bau Ong and Bau Ba, alongside the dune known as Doi Trinh Nu, located northeast of Bau Ba, and an ecosystem of low forest surrounding the lakes.

The dramatic contrast between the lakes and surrounding dunes creates a captivating, almost surreal landscape, an enchanting visual harmony of desert and oasis. The juxtaposition of dry sand and cool freshwater, of heat and breeze, embodies a mesmerising yin-yang philosophy in nature.
