Speaking at the event, Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman Pham Duc An said that Japan is currently one of the three largest foreign investors in Da Nang, with 301 projects worth a total of more than 1.22 billion USD.

In the city’s High-Tech Park and industrial parks alone, there are 69 Japanese projects with a total investment of about 835 million USD.

Japanese enterprises are also widely present in information technology, services, tourism and real estate across the city.

According to An, Da Nang aims to become one of Viet Nam’s major socio-economic centres and a key hub in Southeast Asia by 2030.

By 2045, the city is expected to become a large, ecological and smart urban area, a centre for start-ups and innovation, and a highly liveable coastal city meeting Asian standard.

In the coming period, Da Nang will prioritise attracting investment from Japanese enterprises in key sectors such as the International Financial Centre and Free Trade Zone, high-tech industries, logistics, high-tech agriculture, education, healthcare, high-quality tourism and the creative economy.

Da Nang Chairman An said the city is committed to continuing to support and create the most favourable conditions for Japanese enterprises to expand their operations in Da Nang.

He added that the city’s leaders are ready to listen, engage in dialogue and promptly address any obstacles or difficulties faced by businesses.

For his part, Japanese Consul General Mori Takero noted that Japanese FDI in Da Nang has a long-standing history. A notable example is VIJACHIP Company, one of the earliest investors in Da Nang since 1993, which continues to operate very effectively today.

In terms of ODA, Japan has made significant contributions to Da Nang’s development through key projects such as the Hai Van Tunnel, Tien Sa Port and the Da Nang-Quang Ngai Expressway.

He added that the Aeon Thanh Khe shopping centre is expected to open this summer, alongside plans to increase direct flights between Da Nang and the Japanese cities of Tokyo and Osaka, which are expected to further expand economic ties between Da Nang and Japan.

The programme provided an opportunity for Da Nang authorities and Japanese businesses to meet, strengthen connections and enhance mutual understanding.

It is expected to help promote the activities of Japanese enterprises in Da Nang while opening up opportunities to attract more new investors in the near future.
