The Hanoi Municipal Department of Tourism held a ceremony to open the Hanoi Tourism Gift Festival 2024 themed "Hanoi’s delicacies", at the Tran Nhan Tong Pedestrian Street in Hai Ba Trung District on August 23.

In his opening speech, Deputy Director of the Municipal Department of Tourism, Tran Trung Hieu, stated that the Hanoi Tourism Gift Festival 2024 is an annual tourism promotion event introducing Hanoi as a "safe-friendly-high-quality-attractive" destination to draw tourists during the National Day celebration (September 2). This event also serves as a meaningful activity to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Capital’s Liberation Day (October 10).

The Hanoi Tourism Gift Festival 2024 honours the essence of Hanoi's culinary arts, preserving and promoting traditional culinary culture.

The festival also recognises and honours folk artisans, collects and preserves traditional recipes and cooking methods, and promotes the culinary treasures of not only the Vietnamese people but also ethnic groups across the country, contributing to the development of Hanoi's tourism industry.

This year’s festival features 100 participating units, including over 20 food stalls and several visitor check-in spaces. Many special culinary products of Hanoi are introduced at the festival, such as Me Tri young sticky rice, Thanh Tri steamed rice rolls, Pho bread, Huong Mai rolled ‘pho’, Duong Lam peanut candy, sticky sweetened mung bean pudding, Hanoi draft beer, spring rolls, lotus seed candy, and ‘banh cha’ (traditional pastries).

During the opening ceremony, locals and visitors were treated to elaborate art performances, 3D mapping technology displays, and contemporary dragon dance arts.

At the festival, visitors can taste food and beverages, see gift products from traditional craft villages, and participate in various activities, such as making bamboo dragonflies, crafting artistic flowers, and recycling crafts. Additionally, visitors can interact with famous kite artisans from Hanoi, such as People's Artisan Nguyen Huu Kiem (Ba Giang kite artisan) and Meritorious Artisans Pham Van Mai and Nguyen Gia Do (Hong Ha Commune, Dan Phuong District).

In addition, during the festival, visitors will have the chance to enjoy traditional art performances, such as the gong performances by the Muong ethnic group (Thach That District), Cheo (Vietnamese traditional opera) singing from Tan Hoi Commune, and Ca Tru (ceremonial singing) from Thuong Mo Commune (Dan Phuong District).

The Hanoi Tourism Gift Festival 2024 kicks off a series of events and activities to promote Hanoi’s autumn tourism season.

The festival runs until August 25.
