The centrepiece of this year's forum is the concept of “Agentic AI” — systems that go beyond serving merely as tools, with the ability to handle multi-step tasks and execute routine processes on behalf of journalists, allowing them to focus on their core values and priorities.

This is no longer a distant theoretical prospect but a reality already being actively embraced by major media organisations such as Hearst Newspapers, which is using AI to automate news alerts and monitor public meetings.

The 2026 WAN-IFRA Viet Nam International Artificial Intelligence (AI) Forum, organised by the Viet Nam Journalists Association in coordination with the World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) at the VinPalace Co Loa Convention Centre (Dong Anh, Ha Noi), serves as a resounding testament to the position of the domestic press.

With more than 200 delegates and leading speakers such as Le Quoc Minh, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, and Jun Zhang, Chief Technology Officer of the South China Morning Post, the forum will deliver strategic insights on how AI is fundamentally rewiring Viet Nam's media ecosystem.

Pressing challenges confrontingthe international media and publishing industry will be scrutinised at the event, ranging from how AI agents operate within media organisations' workflows, the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the industrialisation of AI in media companies, and shifts in audiences and distribution channels, to automated answer tools, cross-platform conversational interfaces, and advanced recommendation systems, as well as governance, trust, regulation, copyright, deepfakes, and the protection of public value in a community powered by artificial intelligence.

The 2026 WAN-IFRA Viet Nam International Artificial Intelligence Forum is a landmark technology summit urging newsrooms and publishers to join forces and take decisive, comprehensive action in a new paradigm dictated by technology.
