In the first nine months of 2025, fruit and vegetable export turnover was estimated at 6.11 billion USD, an increase of 8.3% compared to the same period of 2024. This result is expected that the fruit and vegetable sector will hit 8 billion USD in 2025.
Fruit and vegetable import revenue in September 2025 stood at 234.342 million USD, up 2.6% compared to August 2025 and 5.8% year-on-year. Cumulatively, fruit and vegetable imports in the first nine months reached more than 1.9 billion USD, a rise of 15.1% over the same period of 2024. In September 2025 alone, the trade surplus of the fruit and vegetable export was over 1 billion USD; the trade surplus exceeded 4.2 billion USD in the nine-month period.
September 2025 marked a rebound in fruit and vegetable exports as quality control and export procedures were improved. In addition, enterprises also made efforts to diversify markets and reduce dependence on traditional markets. Fruit and vegetable export turnover to major markets increased, including China, the Republic of Korea, Japan and Thailand.
In the first eight months of 2025, China was Viet Nam’s key fruit and vegetable export market, accounting for 57.9% of total value, followed by the US (7.5%) and the Republic of Korea (4.4%). In this period, fruit and vegetable exports to China reduced by 9.3% year-on-year, however the exports to the US, Japan, and the Netherlands increased dramatically.
