The event, attended by former President Truong Tan Sang, was held to recall the heroic period in Vietnamese history when the 1228-born general led the Vietnamese people to victory against Mongol invasions.
With his remarkable feats, Tran Hung Dao entered the folk spiritual world as a saint of the nation, with temples erected throughout the country to worship the national hero.
Within the ceremony, delegates offered incense to Tran Hung Dao as well as the myriad heroes who have fallen for the revolutionary cause and national independence.
On the occasion, the management of the temple donated 100 million VND to the homeland sea and islands fund and 200 million VND to District 1’s fund for the poor, as well as presented 25 gifts to disadvantaged schoolchildren.
