WHO supports Nghe An province in preventing and fighting epidemics after floods

Dr. Chu Trong Trang, Director of Nghe An Provincial Centre for Disease Control (Nghe An Provincial CDC) said on July 31 that the World Health Organization (WHO) has just supported Nghe An province with 416.000 Aquatabs water disinfection tablets and 500 clean water bags.

Previously, on July 24, Nghe An Provincial CDC sent a dispatch to the WHO office in Viet Nam requesting support for supplies and chemicals to respond to disease prevention and control work during the rainy season.

Immediately after receiving support from WHO, Nghe An CDC sent 3 working groups to flooded areas to support and guide environmental treatment, disease prevention and control after floods. Nghe An CDC provided 99,700 Aquatabs and 300 clean water bags to severely affected medical centres.

For Tuong Duong Medical Centre, due to severe damage to machinery, equipment, and supplies, Nghe An Provincial CDC has increased the number of chemical sprayers and sent 2 technical staff to support.

Nghe An Provincial CDC has distributed 99,700 Aquatabs and 300 clean water bags to local medical centres severely affected by floods (not including regular distributions).

Previously, because the My Ly Commune Health Station was swept away by floodwaters, the Nghe An Provincial Department of Health requested the Ky Son Health Centre to urgently set up a field health station to examine and treat people.

The Nghe An Department of Health also transferred medicines, some essential equipment and necessary supplies to the field health station.
