According to the Ha Noi Public Transport Management and Operation Centre, the free fare policy applies from August 29 through September 2, facilitating the travel needs of the public and visitors during the National Day holiday.
On the urban rail network, both the Cat Linh–Ha Dong line (Line 2A) and the elevated section of the Nhon–Cau Giay line (Line 3.1) will operate daily from 5:30 AM to 10:00 PM. Trains are scheduled to run at a steady frequency of approximately one trip every 10 minutes.
The comprehensive plan entails operating around 203 trips per day on the Cat Linh–Ha Dong line and approximately 200 trips daily on the Nhon–Cau Giay line, thereby significantly bolstering capacity to meet heightened travel and sightseeing demands throughout the holiday period.
In preparation for the National Day holiday, Ha Noi has mobilised 42 reserve buses capable of providing around 100 additional trips to swiftly disperse passenger bottlenecks whenever necessary.
Complementing the urban rail services, the city’s extensive bus network will continue to operate from 4:30 AM to 10:30 PM, with frequencies ranging from 5 to 30 minutes per trip, depending on the specific route. Total operational volume is projected to exceed a robust 17,000 vehicle trips per day. Specifically, the figure is expected to reach 17,335 trips on August 30, while peaking at approximately 17,645 trips daily on August 29 and 31.
Sustaining this high level of service aims to ensure seamless connectivity between bus stations, train terminals, transit hubs, and densely populated areas, thereby helping to effectively absorb the surge in travel demand during the holiday.
Anticipating potential spikes in travel demand — particularly in city centres and at popular entertainment or sightseeing spots — the city has formulated proactive strategies to inject additional vehicles into the network and proactively clear passenger crowds in the event of localised overcrowding.
