The programme was implemented across 134 fare-free bus routes in Ho Chi Minh City, with the partnership and sponsorship of the Ho Chi Minh City Football Joint Stock Company. It aims to show appreciation to passengers who use the bus service and to encourage residents to continue choosing public transport for their daily commutes.

The 10 selected passengers participated in a lucky draw for a chance to win one of 10 prizes: four electric-assist bicycles and six Co.opmart vouchers worth 3 million VND each.

Unlike award programmes based on registration or contest participation, this initiative utilised actual trip data from the electronic ticketing system to identify passengers with the highest trip counts.

Specifically, data was recorded from 00:00 on July 1 to 23:59 on July 31. Each valid boarding and validation on the electronic ticketing system counted as one trip. After data aggregation and verification, the 10 passengers with the highest number of valid trips were selected to participate in the prize draw.

If several passengers had the same number of valid journeys, the organisers used the time at which the system recorded them as reaching the highest number of journeys as a criterion for determining their ranking, prioritising the passenger who reached that number earlier.

Leaders of the Public Transport Management Centre emphasised that the gift programme in August 2026 is an initiative designed to acknowledge the public's support for the public transport system and to encourage the habit of using buses among city residents.
