The water was supplied by international organisations, including the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), and ActionAid Viet Nam, following appeals made by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee.
This donation aims to meet the urgent need for safe drinking water, reduce the risk of disease outbreaks after flooding, and support the stabilisation of life in areas impacted by the disaster.
Additional distributions are planned in the coming days for other regions suffering from severe shortages of clean water.
Heavy rainfall and flash floods caused by Storm Wipha have inflicted widespread damage across Nghe An province, affecting thousands of households and creating a significant shortage of clean water—posing serious threats to public health, hygiene, and daily living conditions.
Access to clean water is not only essential for everyday life but also critical during emergency situations following natural disasters.
