The Italian Ambassador to Vietnam said that tourism is one of the important pillars in the strategic cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Italy. Tourism not only contributes to promoting economic and trade development, but also helps build a strong relationship between the two peoples. After nearly 3 years of being heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, one of the important tasks set by the Italian Government is to rebuild and promote two-way tourism exchange between Vietnam and Italy.
Italian Ambassador to Vietnam Antonio Alessandro expressed his wish for Italy and Vietnam to join hands in golf tourism development during a presentation in Hanoi this week to promote the 44th Ryder Cup 2023, one of the world’s most prestigious golf tournaments.
The Italian Embassy in Vietnam hosted the presentation on Thursday to launch activities that promote the Ryder Cup 2023, a biennial men’s golf competition between teams from Europe and the US, which will be organised for the first time in Italy from September 29 to October 1 at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Rome.
Vietnam is the only country in Southeast Asia to have been selected by the Organising Committee for the Ryder Cup 2023 as a location for launching such promotional activities.
At the presentation, Ambassador Alessandro expressed his wish for Italy and Vietnam to cooperate in developing golf tourism programmes.
Two sides discuss opportunities and challenges in organising major golf events and developing the golf movements in both Italy and Vietnam.
According to General Director Nguyen Trung Khanh, Ryder Cup is the world's leading prestigious golf tournament. If the Ryder Cup tournament is held in Vietnam in the future, it will be a great opportunity to attract a large number of international visitors to Vietnam to enjoy the tournament as well as visit and relax.
Agreeing to strengthen tourism cooperation between Vietnam and Italy, the General Director suggested that the two sides will actively exchange information on the tourism market, promote exchange of visitors and strengthen business cooperation between the two sides.
