The capital city will hold a wide range of activities within the build up to mark the 79th anniversary of the National Day of Vietnam (September 2, 1945-2024), the 70th anniversary of the Liberation Day of Hanoi (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024).
The National Day holiday is also an occasion to prepare for the Mid-Autumn Festival, so from August 30, the organising committee will turn the Hanoi Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Centre, 50 Dao Duy Tu Street, Hang Buom Ward, into a space for the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival, with lanterns, Mid-Autumn Festival trays and many images of the old Mid-Autumn Festival.
On September 1, at the Hanoi Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Centre, there will be a discussion on "Preserving and promoting the value of traditional Ao Dai — Experiences of the community and managers" to honour the beauty of the Vietnamese Ao Dai and experiences to preserve and promote the value of Ao Dai as a cultural heritage.
Meanwhile, the Hanoi Old Quarter Heritage Information Centre (Quan De Temple, 28 Hang Buom Street, Hang Buom Ward) is where the programme of experiencing making traditional Mid-Autumn Festival lanterns and exchanging with artisan Nguyen Van Quyen will take place.
At Villa No. 49, Tran Hung Dao, Hang Bai Ward, the organising committee will introduce the art of engraved lacquer paintings with the theme "Heritage Circuit".
60 engraved lacquer paintings, mainly inspired by folk paintings, will bring the public a new look at the artists' artistic creations. The programme will run until September 3. Within the framework of the programme, there will be an activity to experience making engraved lacquer paintings taking place on September 1 and 2.
The municipal Department of Tourism, working in collaboration with the Thang Long Heritage Conservation Centre Hanoi and the Dinh Lang Viet (Vietnamese Communal Houses) Club, will organise a programme titled “Ao Dai connecting Hanoi tourism and heritage 2024”.
The scheme will take place from 5:30 a.m to 9 a.m on September 1 on several streets around the districts of Ba Dinh, Hoan Kiem, and Long Bien.
In addition, during holidays, there are many cultural and artistic performances in the walking space of Hanoi's Old Quarter.
