General Secretary Trong made the request to the Hanoi Capital High Command (HCHC) during his working visit to the High Command on January 1.
The function also saw the presence of Politburo member and Minister of National Defence, General Phung Quang Thanh; Politburo member in charge of the Hanoi municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the HCHC’s Party Committee Pham Quang Nghi and many other officials.
General Secretary Trong extended best wishes to the HCHC’s staff on New Year 2016 and praised their outstanding achievements in realising resolutions of the Party, the National Assembly, the Government, the Ministry of National Defence and Hanoi; actively taking measures to fulfill assigned tasks in all aspects; maintaining security and social order in the capital; strengthening national defence based on people; and protecting a peaceful life for local residents, contributing to the country’s accomplishments.
He asked the officers and soldiers to keep loyalty to the Party and the nation, enhance Party building and outstandingly fulfill all entrusted tasks.
The Party leader expressed his belief that the capital’s armed forces would continue promoting their traditions, intensifying studying and practices, improving their capacity and strengthening the Party to serve as loyal and reliable forces of the Party, the State and people, contributing to building and protecting the capital and the country.
Reporting to the Party chief on the HCHC’s performance, HCHC Commander Nguyen Doan Anh said that the High Command has proactively advised local authorities on the implementation of missions on national defence and local military, maintained combat readiness, and had a firm grasp of the local situation while working closely with other forces to ensure security for important political events, local and national anniversaries, and to protect national security, social order and safety.
The HCHC completed selection and gathering of citizens for regulated military service; managed militia forces effectively, enhanced general defence education, gained good results in political work, and pro-actively promoted its role in mass mobilisation and Party construction, Anh added.
On this occasion, General Secretary Trong visited the HCHC’s traditional room and planted a memorial tree at the HCHC’s headquarters.
