According to Delegation No. 29, An Giang Province has made positive progress following the reorganisation of administrative units and the implementation of the two-tier local government model.
In particular, the Phu Quoc Special Zone is being developed as a key driver of the marine economy and is preparing to host the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in 2027.
Thanks to enhanced decentralisation and delegation of authority, with more than 19 responsibilities transferred to commune-level administrations, administrative procedures have been significantly streamlined. The leaner government model has also helped the locality achieve substantial savings in recurrent expenditure.
Alongside these achievements, the inspection delegation noted that the Standing Board of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee should intensify efforts to finalise plans for handling surplus public assets. It should also continue training and developing officials to improve the quality of public services, contributing to the goal of achieving average GDP growth of more than 10% during the 2026–2030 period.
Concluding the working session, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan highly commended the Standing Board of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee for its sense of responsibility in implementing and translating the Party Central Committee’s policies and resolutions into concrete actions. An Giang was recognised as a “bright spot” for its effective operation of the two-tier local government model and its strong commitment to inspection and supervision at the grassroots level.
However, the Vice President also pointed to challenges in achieving sustainable growth targets.
Accordingly, the province should focus on reviewing and improving the quality of officials at commune and ward levels to ensure the smooth functioning of the administrative system.
It should continue accelerating administrative reform, removing obstacles to both public and private investment projects in line with provincial planning, and capitalising on its digital infrastructure advantages to make science and technology a genuine driver of growth rather than merely a matter of awareness.
Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan stressed that forthcoming reviews and evaluations of Party members conducted by the Standing Board of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee must be substantive and avoid formality.
She emphasised that this is not only a political task but also a self-correcting and self-protective mechanism, helping to detect violations at an early stage and identify talented individuals capable of contributing to a new era of development.
