The festival attracted the participation of 22 outstanding clubs in Ho Chi Minh City and nearly 100 performances by amateur singers. Their performances mainly praise the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, patriotism, love, and socio-economic and cultural achievements.
The festival is a significant public art event to realise the community’s commitment to UNESCO in preserving and promoting the values of the art form.
In particular, this year's festival was held on the 10th anniversary of when Don Ca Tai Tu singing was recognised as a UNESCO intangible cultural heritage of humanity (December 5, 2013-December 5, 2023).
The festival also aims to praise and honour artisans, amateur musicians, and amateur singers active in amateur music clubs, teams, and groups for their contributions to the Southern Don Ca Tai Tu activities in Ho Chi Minh City.
The event will promote the art form to the public, particularly the youth, to continue preserving and promoting its unique values.
The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on December 7.
‘Don Ca Tai Tu', a folk art form developed across Vietnam’s southern region since the end of the 19th century, was recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humankind in December 2013.
