At the centre of the exhibition stands a 4-metre-high, 45-metre-long banner featuring enlarged paintings in lacquer, oil, and battlefield sketches by veteran artists who participated in the resistance wars, including Huy Toan, Le Lam, Tran Huu Chat, Pham Ngoc Lieu, and Phan Oanh.
Alongside these are artworks by younger artists born and raised in peacetime. Each piece serves as a heartfelt tribute to the elder generations who fought for national independence.
Speaking at the event, painter Nguyen Thu Thuy, a representative of the event’s organising committee, said: “Behind each work lies a touching story of both the artist and the characters depicted in their paintings.”

Among the highlights of the exhibition are three special pieces contributed by two art collectors: the oil painting “Dien Bien Phu in the Air” by painter Nguyen Thuan, and the two lacquer paintings “Liberation of Buon Ma Thuot” and “Tank crashing into the Gate of Independence Palace” by painter Tran Huu Chat.
Also drawing significant public attention is the artwork “Greetings to My Homeland Vietnam” by painter Ngo Ba Hoang. This massive painting, measuring 1.8 metres in height and 300 metres in length, is painted with acrylic. It vividly portrays a peaceful and unified Vietnam, stretching from the Lung Cu flagpole in the north to Ca Mau Cape in the south, encompassing mountainous areas, plains, and coastal regions.
