The restoration is a collaborative effort between the Hue Monument Complex Preservation Centre and the Institute of Construction Science in the central region and is expected to be completed after two years.
Under the project, the two symmetrical Ta Tung Vien and Huu Tung Vien halls within the tomb will be rebuilt to their original state.
Director of the Hue Monuments Complex Preservation Centre Phan Thanh Hai said that the tomb of Nguyen dynasty emperor Thieu Tri, who ruled Vietnam from 1841 to 1847, is an important historic site of significant cultural, artistic and architectural value.
The tomb was completed in 1848 but was severely damaged during the wars.
