In recent years, Hung Yen Province has focused on planning and building infrastructure for industrial parks and clusters, accelerating administrative reforms, and improving its provincial competitiveness, thereby creating a favourable investment environment and promoting industrial development towards modernisation.
To date, Hung Yen has one economic zone and 23 established industrial parks covering a total area of 5,891 hectares, with an occupancy rate of 64.9%. Additionally, 74 industrial clusters have been established with a total area of 3,931 hectares.
During the 2021–2025 period, industrial parks and clusters have attracted 559 new projects, bringing the total number of valid projects in the province to 2,478, with total registered capital reaching 396 trillion VND and more than 9.4 billion USD.
Many large-scale, high-tech, and advanced manufacturing projects from multinational corporations and major global brands have been attracted to Hung Yen’s industrial parks. Among the notable investments are the LCD polarising film production project for smartphones and automobiles by Nitto Viet Nam Co., Ltd. with investment capital of 132 million USD; the high-speed fibre optic cable and connector manufacturing project by Molex Viet Nam Co., Ltd. with investment capital of 128 million USD; the RFID label production project by Arizon Technology Viet Nam Co., Ltd. with investment capital of 67.5 million USD; and projects by Lotes Viet Nam, Compal Electronics Viet Nam, the LNG thermal power plant, and the GEL-O&J automobile manufacturing plant.

Industrial production has affirmed its role as a key pillar in Hung Yen’s economic development, with the average industrial production value growth rate during 2021–2025 estimated at 11.1% per year. The internal structure of the industrial sector has shifted positively, with a rising share of manufacturing and processing industries and a gradual decline in mining activities. The sector has been transitioning from labour-intensive to capital- and technology-intensive industries.
The manufacturing and processing sector has gradually become the main growth driver, accounting for the largest proportion of industry, with an average growth rate of 10.8% per year. It is expected to contribute 37.8% to the province’s Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in 2025, playing a vital role in driving export growth and increasing the industrial sector’s overall contribution to 46.3% of the provincial GRDP.
Determined to make Hung Yen a modern industrial province
Hung Yen Province has set out its development orientation for the 2025–2030 period, with a vision to 2045, focusing on industrial development based on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. The province aims to develop modern, high-tech industries deeply integrated into global value chains, leveraging its advantages to become a regional hub for industry and energy in the Red River Delta, and to become a modern industrial province by 2035.
According to Cao Quang Hung, Director of the Hung Yen Department of Industry and Trade, the province is determined to implement a range of key, synchronised solutions, focusing on digital transformation combined with innovation, and sustainable development. First, the province will build digital infrastructure for industrial parks and clusters, support enterprises in applying Industry 4.0 technologies and smart production, and enhance competitiveness. It will also promote green transformation, develop renewable energy, and the circular economy, support enterprises in meeting international environmental standards, and gradually establish eco-industrial park models.
Hung Yen will develop logistics and regional transport infrastructure, build multimodal logistics centres and cold storage facilities for agricultural exports, and form an industrial-logistics corridor linking Hung Yen, Hai Phong, and Quang Ninh to maximise seaport advantages and strategic transport infrastructure. The province will also modernise energy, telecommunications, and wastewater treatment systems in industrial areas to ensure sustainable and long-term development.
Industrial development will follow a modern, high-tech, and environmentally friendly direction, with priority given to attracting investment in electronics, precision engineering, new materials, and renewable energy. Infrastructure in industrial parks and clusters will be improved to ensure synchronised connections with major economic centres. The share of manufacturing and processing industries in the economic structure will be further increased.
The province will support enterprises in technological innovation, strengthen production and global value chain linkages, and promote business model innovation aligned with sustainable development goals. Industrial development will follow a cluster model, grouping industries and products into large-scale, high-efficiency industrial complexes. The province will attract investment in high-tech sectors and globally competitive products, focus on developing a skilled workforce to meet innovation needs, maintain and expand current power sources, and prioritise clean and renewable energy development. It will also accelerate new power projects, such as the Thai Binh LNG thermal power plant, and onshore and offshore wind, biomass, rooftop solar, and waste-to-energy projects, in line with sustainable development objectives.
Hung Yen will preserve and develop traditional handicrafts and craft villages, promote OCOP products and outstanding rural industrial goods, thereby enhancing economic value and preserving local cultural identity.
The province will continue to invest in commercial and logistics infrastructure, including seaports, and strengthen trade promotion, e-commerce development, and the application of science and technology in commerce. It will also focus on developing high-quality human resources, aligning vocational training with actual production and business needs, and fostering partnerships with universities, research institutes, and major enterprises to supply skilled and qualified workers.
At the same time, Hung Yen will continue institutional improvements, administrative reforms, and investment promotion, while enhancing regional connectivity to improve competitiveness and attract large-scale, high-tech projects.
With its advantages in geography, land and labour resources, dynamic and creative spirit, and synchronised solutions, Hung Yen’s industrial sector is expected to grow strongly, soon turning the province into a modern industrial hub.
