Hung Yen expands high-income fruit cultivation areas

According to statistics from Hung Yen Province, to date, the total area under perennial crops now stands at 24,530 hectares, an increase of 2.95% over the same period in 2024.

Of this, fruit trees account for 20,946 hectares, up 2.50%, representing 85.39% of the total perennial crop area. The province’s main high-value fruit varieties include bananas (4,928 ha), guavas (1,050), oranges (1,896), pomelos (2,424), longans (5,879) and lychees (1,928).

Output of several fruit crops has risen considerably in the first nine months of 2025. Longan production is estimated at 52,810 tonnes, up 13.32% year-on-year; lychee output at 24,475 tonnes (up 9.34%); apples at 6,845 tonnes (up 4.07%); bananas at over 123,510 tonnes (up 3.92%); guavas at 15,560 tonnes (up 0.88%); papayas at 3,571 tonnes (up 5.25%); and oranges at 23,762 tonnes (up 1.60%).

The results reflect effective agricultural restructuring efforts and favourable weather conditions across Hung Yen this year.

In particular, favourable weather conditions in the early months have supported the differentiation of flower buds in longan trees, resulting in a flowering and fruit-setting rate estimated at more than 95% of the total growing area.
