The Editor-in-chief Forum is an annual activity held by the Vietnam Journalists’ Association. The 2023 forum, themed “Policy communication - Perspectives from press agencies”, consisted of two sessions. The first session had the theme of “Press – the extended arm of policy communication” and the second session was held with the theme “Mechanisms and resources for the press to carry out policy communication”. |

Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam shared, that regarding policy communication, some press agencies still lack creativity, criticism, evaluation, and prediction. The peculiarity of each press agency has not been thoroughly promoted. Many newsrooms have not proactively developed systematic policy communication plans. |

Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper Le Quoc Minh responded to the press: “We need to properly understand policy communication and the difference between policy propaganda and policy communication. We need to clearly understand the role, importance and methods of the press in disseminating, spreading, and bringing promulgated policies to people from all walks of life, towards helping policies come to life. It is crucial to have great coordination between state management agencies, functional agencies and press agencies, in implementing policy communication, as well as make economic and technological solutions in improving the effectiveness of policy communication at press agencies”. |
