In Pictures: National walking campaign launched in Ha Noi
Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper and the Ministry of Public Security held a press conference in Ha Noi on August 11 to launch the national walking campaign titled ‘Marching Forward with Viet Nam’.

The campaign is among activities celebrating the 80th anniversaries of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945–2025), National Day (September 2), and the Traditional Day of the People’s Public Security Force (August 19).
Addressing the press conference, Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the PCC’s Commission for Communication, Education and Mass Mobilisation, and head of the campaign’s steering committee, stated that the newspaper is proud to amplify the Party and state’s vision through meaningful cultural, artistic, sporting, and social programmes that benefit the wider public. Major General Le Hong Hiep, Deputy Director of the Political Affairs Department, Ministry of Public Security stated that police units nationwide have jointly organised activities promoting physical and mental health, legal awareness, and national security, showcasing Viet Nam’s unity and global responsibility.
Doan Hong Nhung, Director of the Retail Division at Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Viet Nam (Vietcombank) stressed that the bank supports the campaign, which fosters sportsmanship and environmental protection while uniting Vietnamese people with positive energy for national progress. According to organisers, citizens can register at cungvietnamtienbuoc.nhandan.vn and log their steps to make up “one billion steps into a new era” from July 25 to August 16. A highlight of the campaign will unfold from 6:00am to 7:30am on August 16 when participants nationwide will gather at Ba Dinh Square in Ha Noi wearing red shirts with yellow stars for a ceremonial flag-raising ceremony, to sing the national anthem, and to show solidarity for a resilient and sustainable Viet Nam.

Do Dong Hung, Director of Communications Department of Viet Nam Airlines emphasised that the airline is proud to sponsor the campaign and pledges to promote its message to international visitors. As a member of Thong Nhat Park Running Club, Do Ngoc Duong expressed his impressions on the event’s scale, adding that the club commits to active participation and volunteer support.
