According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the host Viet Nam will be represented by troupes from the Viet Nam Puppetry Theatre, Thang Long Puppetry Theatre, Hai Phong Puppetry Troupe, Southern Arts Theatre (Ho Chi Minh City), and Dong Nai Arts Theatre.
The festival will feature a rich and varied programme comprising an opening and closing ceremony, award presentations, competitive performances, and cultural tours of Quang Ninh’s historical landmarks and scenic attractions, aiming to combine artistic expression with tourism, and offer a dynamic platform for cultural celebration.
The festival presents a valuable venue for Vietnamese puppetry artists to showcase the diversity of both traditional and modern puppetry to an international audience while helping them learn from and collaborate with leading puppetry troupes from around the world.
The event will also provide an opportunity for audiences in Viet Nam and abroad to enjoy an eclectic display of puppetry arts, ranging from Viet Nam’s iconic water puppetry to distinctive styles from across the globe.
Through this shared experience, artists and spectators alike will celebrate creativity while contributing to the preservation and promotion of national artistic heritage in an increasingly interconnected world.
Beyond its artistic merit, the festival serves as a significant cultural and tourism initiative. Quang Ninh, home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Ha Long Bay, will become a focal point for international cultural engagement, offering visitors a glimpse into Viet Nam’s beautiful, vibrant, and welcoming identity.
