Kon Tum reburies remains of 15 martyrs found in Laos, Cambodia

The authorities of Kon Tom Province held a memorial and burial ceremony at Ngọc Hoi Martyrs Cemetery on June 6 for the remains of 15 martyrs who laid down their lives during wars in Laos and Cambodia.

During the 2023-2024 dry season, with the support of Ratanakiri province of Cambodia, and Attapu, Sekong, and Champasak provinces of Laos, Team K53 of the Kon Tum Military Command found and repatriated the remains of 16 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts, including six in Laos and six in Cambodia.

Among the remains, one martyr was identified as Doan Thanh Long, born in 1926 in Dien Quang Commune, Dien Ban District, Quang Nam Province, and sacrificed on March 27, 1968, in Attapeu Province, Laos.

Vice Chairwoman of the Kon Tum Provincial People’s Committee Y Ngoc, expressed gratitude to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the national liberation cause and the peace of three neighbouring countries.

She also showed the determination to contribute to promoting the fine relationships between Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
