At the event, Chairman of the Viet Nam Publishing Association Pham Minh Tuan emphasised that in the country’s development strategy, people and knowledge are always identified as central elements and key drivers for rapid and sustainable development.
Important Party resolutions such as the Resolution of the 14th National Congress, Resolution No. 57 on science and technology, Resolution No. 71 on education and training, Resolution No. 80 on cultural development, along with Directive No. 04-CT/TW on publishing activities, all place emphasis on developing human resources, promoting reading culture, and creating conditions for the younger generation to access comprehensive knowledge.
In that context, the project “1,000 Knowledge Libraries for Students” is being implemented as a specific solution to improve students’ access to knowledge, especially in disadvantaged areas where access to books, newspapers, and reading spaces remains limited.
According to the plan, the project will be implemented nationwide during the 2026–2035 period, with the goal of building and donating 1,000 libraries to schools. Each library is designed according to a standard model, including 500-1,000 book titles, newspapers, and publications suitable for students, along with learning support equipment such as computers, presentation devices, and a friendly reading space.
Not only limited to providing physical facilities, the project aims to build a sustainable learning environment where reading becomes a habit, a need, and a joy for students. It is also expected to serve as a foundation for the comprehensive development of competencies and qualities of Viet Nam’s younger generation in the new period.
Alongside the project announcement, the Organising Committee launched the nationwide movement “Donate a Book - Open the Future”. The movement calls on youth members, children, students, schools, organisations, and individuals to contribute books, newspapers, stories, and suitable publications to supplement the libraries under the project.
The movement not only contributes to enriching knowledge resources but also helps educate the spirit of sharing and social responsibility among the younger generation. Each donated book is not merely a learning resource but also a connection that inspires a love of reading, nurtures dreams, and creates more learning opportunities for students in disadvantaged areas.
The Organising Committee encourages each child and student to participate by contributing at least one appropriate book. Schools, classes, and youth organisations can organise book donation campaigns within their units. The publications received must ensure appropriate content, suitability for age groups, good condition, and compliance with educational criteria.
All donated books, newspapers, and publications will be received, categorised, reviewed, and added to the project’s library system in accordance with set criteria, ensuring transparency, openness, and effective use.
With nationwide scope, a socialised mechanism, and community participation, the project “1,000 Knowledge Libraries for Students” and the movement “Donate a Book – Open the Future” are expected to generate practical and long-term value for education and society, contributing to building a solid knowledge foundation for Viet Nam’s younger generation.
