Various events celebrating Viet Nam Book and Reading Culture Day 2026 to be held at Ha Noi Book Street

On the occasion of Viet Nam Book and Reading Culture Day 2026, the Ha Noi Book Street Management Board, in collaboration with publishing and distribution units, is organising a series of programmes including author–reader exchanges, book launches, and a wide range of attractive promotions for readers from April 21 to 17.

The programme runs from April 21 to 27 with the participation of 14 publishing and distribution units and a system of 15 book stalls serving readers.

At the event, visitors have the opportunity to access a rich and diverse selection of books across various genres such as literature, children’s books, life skills, economics, history, science and technology, education, and other specialised categories, catering to readers of all ages and interests.

As part of the programme, organisers are launching an interactive activity, enabling readers to explore the entire Book Street space. Participants collect stamps on a map featuring the logos of 14 booths; each purchase at a stall earns a corresponding stamp, allowing readers to discover the whole street and receive gifts based on the number of stamps accumulated.

In addition, a variety of creative experiential activities such as statue painting, drawing, and bracelet-making will be held throughout the event, contributing to a friendly and engaging reading culture space, particularly for children and families.

To highlight the role of books in the context of cultural industries and digital transformation, the event series will host a number of discussions and exchanges on practical topics, including a seminar titled “Cultural Industry Events: The Role of Books in Cultural Development” and adiscussion titled “Digital Transformation in the Publishing Sector: Opportunities and Challenges”, among others.

Throughout the event, cultural and artistic activities will be interwoven, including welcome performances and creative “Book Street” activities such as colouring and handicraft-making, creating a vibrant atmosphere that can attract a large number of readers.

Notably, attendees will be served complimentary Shan Tuyet tea during the seminar “Humanity’s Toolkit in the Age of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics”, offering a relaxing reading space that combines reading culture with the traditional tea-drinking culture.

Within the framework of the programme, the organisers, in coordination with partners, will donate books to the boarding primary and lower secondary school library in Si Pa Phin Commune (Dien Bien Province) — one of the first boarding schools in a border area built under government direction.

This meaningful activity helps students in disadvantaged areas gain access to knowledge and contributes to spreading reading culture to regions with limited access to books.

In addition, participating units are offering a wide range of promotions during the event, including fixed-price books, discounts of 30% to 50% on new titles, as well as combo deals and accompanying gifts.

Furthermore, online book sales will be promoted through livestream sessions (megalive) simultaneously conducted by publishers on e-commerce platforms, particularly TikTok, offering readers high-quality books at preferential prices. These megalive sessions will also help publishers expand their reach to readers while contributing to the development of the publishing industry in the digital environment.
