Liverpool hammer Leicester 3-0 to add to relegation woes

Two goals from Curtis Jones and a sublime finish from Trent Alexander-Arnold gave Liverpool a 3-0 win away to Leicester City in the Premier League on Monday (May 15), boosting their Champions League hopes while deepening the Foxes' relegation worries.

Liverpool are fifth in the table on 65 points after 36 games, one behind fourth-placed Manchester United, who have a game in hand over their rivals. Leicester are 19th on 30 points, two behind Everton in 17th spot with two games to go.

* AC Milan forward Rafael Leao could be fit to face Inter Milan in their Champions League semi-final second leg, manager Stefano Pioli said on Monday, providing a major boost to his side's hopes of overturning a two-goal deficit. Leao has been one of Milan's most influential players this season and registered 13 goals and 10 assists in all competitions.

* France will not host the Rugby League World Cup in 2025, organisers said on Monday, citing a failure to meet financial criteria outlined by the French government. France won the bid to host the 2025 World Cup in January 2022. The 2021 edition of the tournament was held in England.

* Marcelo Bielsa has been named the new coach of Uruguay, the country's FA (AUF) announced on Monday, with the former Leeds United manager signing a contract until 2026, according to media reports. The Argentine takes over following the exit of Diego Alonso after Uruguay failed to reach the World Cup knockout stages.

* On-loan Manchester United midfielder Marcel Sabitzer has been ruled out of their last three Premier League games and next month's FA Cup final due to a knee injury, the club said on Monday (May 15). Austria international Sabitzer, 29, joined United from Bayern Munich in January on a short-term deal until the end of the season. He has scored three times in 18 appearances and won the League Cup in February.

* Carlos Alcaraz crashed to a humbling 6-3 7-6(4) defeat by Hungarian qualifier Fabian Marozsan in the third round of the Italian Open on Monday as his quest for a third straight title on clay before the French Open ended in disappointment.
