Representatives from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tuyen Quang Province and residents of Lo Lo Chai Village, Lung Cu Commune, proudly received the title of Best Tourism Village in the World 2025.

Among the awardees this year, Lo Lo Chai Village in Lung Cu Commune, Tuyen Quang Province, was honoured as one of the world’s most outstanding community-based tourism destinations, having surpassed more than 270 nominations from 65 countries.

The World’s Best Tourism Villages, initiated by UN Tourism, forms a global programme recognising rural destinations that excel in preserving cultural and natural heritage, promoting sustainable tourism, and improving local livelihoods.

The recognition is based on a rigorous set of criteria concerning governance, innovation, sustainability, environment, and contributions to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), serving as an international benchmark for high-quality community-based tourism models.

In recent years, Tuyen Quang Province has focused on building the brand of Lo Lo Chai Village, Lung Cu Commune, as a model of community-based tourism oriented towards green and sustainable development.

Located near Viet Nam’s northernmost point, about 1.5 kilometres from the Lung Cu Flag Tower, Lo Lo Chai retains many traditional cultural features. The village’s earthen-walled houses, handed down through generations, preserve the distinctive architecture of the Lo Lo ethnic group, with three-sided enclosed earthen walls and hand-stacked stone gates and fences.

The success of Lo Lo Chai is not only a source of pride for the local community but also a significant milestone in affirming the global presence of Tuyen Quang’s tourism brand.

Notably, on October 13, 2025, the Dong Van Karst Plateau Global Geopark in Tuyen Quang Province was honoured by the World Travel Awards (WTA) as Asia’s Leading Cultural Destination 2025. These two prestigious titles reflect a clear development orientation that harmonises heritage preservation, cultural value promotion, and the improvement of community livelihoods, while affirming Tuyen Quang’s image as a sustainable, culturally rich tourism and heritage destination in the region and the world.
