The salary adjustment was approved by 93.37% of National Assembly (NA) deputies at the ongoing NA meeting held in Hanoi on November 12.
According to the resolution on the State budget estimate in 2020 adopted by the NA on November 12, the NA assigned the Government to raise the current basic salary from VND1.49 million to VND1.6 million from July 1, 2020.
The retirement pension, social insurance allowances and monthly allowances for national contributors will also be adjusted based on the new basic salary.
The new basic salary will be applied to public employees working at State agencies from commune-level to the central level and civil servants working at public socio-political organisations and the armed forces.
