However, women's participation in the technology sector is mainly concentrated in support positions rather than technical roles. This reflects barriers of gender stereotypes and the lack of policies to support women's deeper participation in STEM.

STEM fields are shaping the future of work and the progress of humanity, especially in the context of digital transformation and industrialisation based on artificial intelligence.

Speaking at the event, Vu Thu Hong, Officer of UN Women's programmes on women, peace and security, said that STEM fields are shaping the future of work and the progress of humanity, especially in the context of digital transformation and industrialisation based on artificial intelligence. However, globally and in Vietnam, women and girls are still underrepresented in these key areas.

The dialogue aims to increase motivation and inspire the younger generation, especially women and girls, to participate in STEM, overcome barriers and provide opportunities such as scholarships, internships, start-up support and resources.

Caroline Nyamayemombe, UN Women Representative in Vietnam, affirmed that empowering women and girls in STEM is not only a matter of equality but also a catalyst for innovation, economic growth and sustainable development.
