Women's equal participation in the digital transformation process is not only for gender equality but also brings economic benefits and efficiency when this process has the perspectives and experiences of all target groups, including ethnic minority members and women.
Recently, Linh Thi Phuong, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Khau Vai Commune, Meo Vac District, Ha Giang Province, has created a video to communicate the Party's policies and the State's laws in the Mong ethnic language, shown in branch meetings and on social networks, attracting the attention and follow-up of cadres, members and women.
This is considered one of the new creative points, bringing high efficiency to propagating and disseminating information and knowledge to ethnic minorities.
Linh Thi Phuong is also one of the two authors who won first prize in the contest "Application of Information Technology in Organising Union Activities" 2024, organised by the Vietnam Women's Union.
The Women's Union of Khau Vai Commune always carries out the emulation movements, campaigns, and key union tasks well. However, in a mountainous commune with a large area and many difficulties in people's lives, the application of information technology in daily life, production and association activities is still limited.
"Based on the actual situation in the locality, we find ideas, develop scripts, select actors who are exemplary members to practice together, film using mobile phones and then create products using software on computers. The video is made in the Mong ethnic language, helping the approach achieve the best results", Phuong shared.
After each video presentation, the meeting host will answer more questions to help members understand the information and knowledge being disseminated in the video. The method contributes to increasing the effectiveness of the activities compared to the traditional method.
Phuong said that the union will broadcast videos through the village's loudspeaker system or the Community Communications Team's mobile speakers for branches that lack facilities.
Along with that, the videos will be posted on the Zalo groups of the members to interact and receive feedback on improving the content, contributing to improving the quality of branch meetings and building an increasingly strong Women’s Union.
In the context of digital transformation integration, women are supported to participate in digital transformation to avoid cases where, due to lack of knowledge and skills, they become victims of sophisticated online fraud.
The Standing Committee of the Binh Dinh Provincial Women's Union has built a model of "Women integrating safely in the online environment" with 40 members in Ghenh Rang Ward, Quy Nhon City. This is the first pilot model established by the Provincial Women's Union.
Currently, the model is operating very effectively once a month. The Management Board of the model coordinates with specialised police to organise training for members on how to use social networks. The model has been replicated in the districts of Vinh Thanh and Phu Cat, with more than 70 members.
In addition, the Women's Union at all levels of Binh Dinh Province actively supports its members and women to participate in the development of the digital economy through propaganda activities on the Party's guidelines, policies and laws of the State on start-ups, business development, cooperatives, and the role and position of women in the development of the digital economy.
Other contents which are focused on are training and equipping knowledge and technological skills to connect the product consumption market, applying science in production and business, supporting participation in e-commerce platforms, online business activities following the provisions of law, and participating in electronic payments towards cashless payments. To date, four women union bases have launched the model of the "Application of information technology in Women Union's activities" group.
Vice President of the Vietnam Women's Union Nguyen Thi Minh Huong said that, as a pioneering organisation for women's equality and development, the union is aware of its responsibility and role in promoting the application of information technology towards digital transformation to better fulfil its political tasks, effectively supporting members and women to participate in the national digital transformation process.
The union's staff at all levels have constantly strived to improve their qualifications, innovate, create, and actively apply information technology in the management, operation and organisation of union activities, building an increasingly developed union organisation operating professionally and effectively.
Women union members need to actively study, proactively participate, adapt to digital transformation, grasp and apply science and technology to improve productivity and work efficiency, develop the economy, improve the quality of life, organise a happy family, raise children appropriately in the context of digital technology and promote the role of both a beneficiary and a subject implementing the National Digital Transformation Programme.
