Outstanding startup women honoured

The Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) held an event on October 12 to honour the winners of a nationwide women’s startup contest and present the Vietnam Women Awards 2024.

Speaking at the event, VWU President Ha Thi Nga stated that the union has organised many activities in recent years to encourage and honour women with startup aspirations and those with significant contributions in various fields such as scientific research, labour, and business.

She noted that the final of the women startup contest and the presentation of the Vietnam Women Awards are an occasion to celebrate women’s incessant efforts and contributions as well as affirm their important role in national development.

2024 is the sixth year that the VWU has held a startup contest for women, one of the activities within a project to support startup women during the 2017-2025 period.

Among the 40 startup projects shortlisted for the final, 25 are projects belong to enterprises and household businesses with women as their owners, while the remaining 15 belong to cooperatives with women’s participation in management and job creation for women.

Speaking at the event, National Assembly Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Hai stressed that the Party and State always recognise and highly appreciate the role of the VWU in promoting gender equality and attracting women’s participation in patriotic emulation movements.

He also praised the owners of the 40 shortlisted projects and congratulated four collectives and 11 individuals for receiving the 2024 Vietnam Women Awards.

He also took the occasion to call on the government to continue introducing mechanisms and policies to facilitate women in start new businesses, especially those concerning capital, consulting, and capacity training.
