The exhibition is expected to provide the public with an insight into the culture, customs and lifestyles, as well as diverse painting styles, of countries from across the globe.
Alongside the leading artists from familiar countries, such as the US, Spain, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the UK, India, Thailand, China and Russia, the exhibition has also attracted the participation of those painting in the watercolour field, from Albania, Kosovo, Greece, Iran, Pakistan, Iraq, Bangladesh, Uruguay, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Finland and Latvia.
Especially, the event features the presence of the world leading watercolour painter, Alvaro Castagnet, who has contributed to the development of watercolour painting in Vietnam.
In addition to the displays, world-famous artists will also perform and teach watercolour painting to art lovers, thereby offering an opportunity for them to share their experience and spread the love for watercolour paintings to the public.
As part of the event, around 100 artists whose works are on display at the exhibition will join together to produce a 40-metre long watercolor painting on Cat Ba Island of Hai Phong city on October 25, making it the longest painting of its kind in the world.
According to Truong Minh Tien, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, the exhibition will provide the public with an overview of the diverse watercolour painting styles throughout the world, as well as in Vietnam, thereby helping to bring this kind of painting closer to the Vietnamese public.
The exhibition, jointly held by the International Watercolor Society (IWS) in Vietnam and the Hanoi Museum, will run until November 15. After the conclusion of the event, the two units will continue working together in order to organise periodical activities and regular painting exhibitions, aiming to serve watercolour painting lovers and visitors.
