The information was released by Tran Chi Cuong, Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee, at a press conference held in Da Nang City on July 1.
Hosted by the Vietnam Association for the Promotion and Development of Cinema in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Da Nang City, the festival promises to be a significant event in the cinematic calendar.
During the press conference, Ngo Phuong Lan, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Association of Film Promotion and Development and Director of DANAFF 2024, said that DANAFF 2024 aims to select and honour outstanding, humane, and artistically unique films from Vietnamese cinema and the Asia-Pacific region.
Vietnamese films such as "Peach, Pho and Piano," "Mai," and "Face Off 7: One Wish” will compete for top honours.

In addition, DANAFF 2024 also encourages talent and widely introduces the public to new cinematic works with high content and artistic value from Vietnamese cinema and the Asia-Pacific region as well as selected films from world cinema.

Notably, DANAFF II will award the Cinema Achievement Award to an outstanding filmmaker in Vietnam for the first time.
A number of workshops will be held throughout the festival to help participants share their experiences as well as to select talented young filmmakers for training under the guidance of international and Vietnamese film experts.
Films will be screened at five large theatres and two outdoor venues, offering a unique and engaging cinematic experience to audiences.
Tran Chi Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, emphasised that the hosting of the second Da Nang Asian Film Festival reaffirms Da Nang's position as a trusted destination for international events. He highlighted the festival's role in connecting tourism and cinema, which enhances Da Nang's appeal as an ideal destination for both domestic and international visitors.
The opening ceremony will be held on July 2, and the closing and award ceremonies will take place on July 6. Both events, along with the Red Carpet program, will be hosted at the Ariyana International Convention Palace in Da Nang and broadcast live on VTV.
