Prevously, the Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information under the Ministry of Information and Communications requested that Netflix stop showing “Little Women”.

The movie has provoked anger among local viewers as it twists Vietnamese history, denies Vietnamese revolutionary achievements, and insults national heroes. It also violates restrictions in cinematographic activities in accordance with Vietnamese law.

This has led to calls for a boycott of the Korean drama on social networks after many Vietnamese viewers criticised the show due to stating inaccurate information about the Vietnamese history.

Netflix had to remove a number of movies with content that violated Vietnam's sovereignty, such as “Put Your Head On My Shoulder”, “Madam Secretary” (2020) and “Pine Gap” (2021).
