In his remarks, Head of the Technology Department and Chairman of the Journalists’ Association of Nhan Dan Newspaper Vu Mai Hoang provided an overview of the development and operations of the newspaper — the mouthpiece of the Communist Party of Viet Nam — emphasising its pioneering role in disseminating the Party’s policies and the State’s laws.
He noted that Nhan Dan Newspaper consistently attaches importance to strengthening international cooperation and expanding friendly relations with press agencies in the region and around the world — particularly the long-standing and close partnership with Pasaxon Newspaper of Laos.
In recent years, Nhan Dan Newspaper has accelerated its digital transformation, applying science and technology to news production and publishing; developing a converged newsroom and producing multi-platform content to meet the increasingly diverse information needs of its audience.
Alongside maintaining its Vietnamese-language editions, Nhan Dan Online has expanded to several foreign-language versions — including English, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish — and is preparing to launch editions in Japanese and Korean. These efforts aim to spread Viet Nam’s official information to a global audience.
On behalf of the Lao delegation, Latkhamphoumy expressed delight at visiting and learning from Viet Nam’s leading press agency. “We are deeply impressed by the converged newsroom model and the coordination in content production at Nhan Dan Newspaper. These are valuable experiences for Lao media as we move toward digital transformation, improving the effectiveness of communication and public service.”
He noted that Nhan Dan Newspaper serves as a model of innovation and media convergence, with extensive experience in managing and organising multi-platform content — insights that the Lao side hopes to study and apply in their own media practices.
During the working session, both sides exchanged views on key topics, including: experiences in multi-platform content management; Nhan Dan Newspaper’s digital transformation process; its converged newsroom model and multimedia production; and plans for major events and special publications marking Viet Nam’s important national holidays in 2025.
On the occasion, the Lao delegation toured Nhan Dan Online’s converged newsroom, took part in friendly exchanges, exchanged souvenirs, and posed for commemorative photos.
The visit contributed to strengthening the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two newspapers, opening opportunities for experience sharing and cooperation toward building a modern and professional press that effectively serves the communication and information missions of both Viet Nam and Laos.
