This is the first visit to Viet Nam by the King of Jordan, and the first head-of-state/government-level exchange between the two sides since they established diplomatic ties. It is also the first trip by a leader of a Middle Eastern state to Viet Nam in nine years.

The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is a constitutional monarchy in the Middle East with stable political and social conditions.
Although facing some economic challenges, Jordan is striving to implement its Economic Modernisation Vision, aiming to double its GDP to 82 billion USD by 2033.
To realise this vision, Jordan is focusing on boosting exports, attracting investment, and reforming public administration.

In terms of foreign policy, Jordan maintains good relations with Western countries and Arab states, supports the Palestine-Israel peace accord, and was the second country to sign a peace treaty with Israel, after Egypt. It also plays an important role as a bridge and humanitarian supporter in the region.

Jordan is an active member of many international and regional organisations such as the United Nations, the World Bank (WB), the World Trade Organisation (WTO), the Arab League (AL), the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations on August 9, 1980, Viet Nam and Jordan have maintained friendship with considerable cooperation potential.
In economic and trade terms, the two-way trade in 2024 exceeded 188 million USD, with Vietnamese exports accounting for around 95%, mainly agricultural products, seafood, electronic goods, and consumer products. Viet Nam mainly imports textiles, fertilisers, and chemicals from Jordan.
Regarding investment, as of the end of September 2025, Jordan has five valid investment projects in Viet Nam, with total registered capital of 1 million USD, ranking 109th out of 153 countries and territories investing in Viet Nam.
The official visit of King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein to Viet Nam, which is made at the invitation of State President Luong Cuong, presents an opportunity to deepen and enhance the effectiveness of Viet Nam-Jordan relations. It marks a historic milestone in bilateral ties, opens a new chapter in cooperation, and lays the foundation for advancing joint efforts in key areas of mutual interest.

Through this visit, Jordan also seeks to strengthen relations with Viet Nam across all fields, contributing to the implementation of Jordan’s Economic Modernisation Vision amid growing engagement between Middle Eastern countries and Viet Nam.
Welcoming King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein on his official visit, Viet Nam continues to implement an independent, self-reliant, diversified, and multilateral foreign policy, proactively and actively integrating into the international community in a comprehensive and effective manner, in line with the spirit of the 13th National Party Congress.
Viet Nam affirms its policy of promoting relations and sharing development experiences with Arab countries generally and Jordan in particular; and is willing to further deepen political trust, support the implementation of independent foreign policies by both countries, and lay the groundwork for substantive economic development cooperation.
Viet Nam also seeks to enhance bilateral coordination and support in multilateral and regional forums, especially at the United Nations, and to facilitate dialogue on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
